Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) primarily spreads through respiratory secretions from coughing or sneezing, close personal contact, or touching contaminated surfaces and subsequently touching the face. "The infection takes about 3-5 days to manifest after the virus enters the host and may persist for a variable duration depending on the severity," explained Dr. Mahua Kapoor Dasgupta.
