India lacks the training capacity to meet the projected need of 15,000 new family physicians annually by 2030, according to a national survey of 272 family physicians across 28 states and UTs. The survey found that 39.3 per cent serve in rural areas, playing a vital role in bridging the country’s healthcare access gap.
