Waist woes: 1 in 5 turn diabetic in 10 years, says PGI study

A 10-year follow-up study conducted by the dept of endocrinology in PGI found that one in five individuals developed diabetes from normal sugar levels over a decade. The study, part of the larger Chandigarh Urban Diabetes Study cohort, was unique because it didn't focus on people who were already sick.
